I have loved from the fireline—
bold, open,
unafraid of the burn.
I have danced the dance of
almost-lovers,
almost-timings,
almost-yes.
But I do not burn myself
to keep another warm.
I do not chase
what will not stand still
in the truth
of its own.
When you meet me in the Karoodust,
naked under stars,
bare feet and open heart,
know this—
I will not beg.
I will not vanish.
I will only mirror
your courage back to you.
And if you turn away again,
know I still rise,
glowing,
from the ash and the ember
after this Burn
